Let’s build our own park!

Here at McDonald Road Library we’re inviting children under 12 to help us make a giant park collage as part of this year’s Leith Festival. (Parents are welcome too!)
First, on Friday 10th June from 3-4pm, we’ve got step one – Build a beautiful park:
Our community collage needs trees, plants, benches, playing areas, animals – everything a real park has! We’ll design our ideal park by thinking about things we like and don’t like about the parks we go to. Using resources from the library, as well as our imaginations, for inspiration we’ll create a beautiful backdrop for our park project.
Then, on Friday 17th June from  3-4pm it’s time for step two – Having fun together:
A community park is for everyone, so we need to fill our collage with people having fun together. We’ll make collage pictures of ourselves, our families and our friends doing various activities using bits of recycled paper, fabric, wool, cellophane, foil, stickers, buttons, pipe cleaners…anything!
Once the collage is finished it will go on display at Out of the Blue in Dalmeny Street, so everyone can admire it.
Don’t forget there will be music, games, stalls and hopefully plenty of sunshine for the Parklife event, organised by Friends of Dalmeny Street Park and Out of the Blue, from 12.00 – 4.00pm on Saturday 18th June. See you there!
