Ryan Van Winkle, our poet in residence, writes:
It was an honour and a privilege to speak at the commencement for the
2012 class of  Newington’s Monster Defence Force. The Newington Monster Defence Force is Newington’s last line of defence against infrequent, but dangerous, surprise monster attacks. These brave children built robot armour and went on a short parade through Newington Library to build their already proud spirits and courage.

As the commencement speaker, I read a few Robot-themed poems to encourage valiance and steel their hearts for the monster battles to come. Good luck class of 2012 and thank you all for your service. Special praise goes to ‘Bash-Oh!’ the haiku themed robot. Here are some photos of our new robot defenders as well as a couple of poems. One for kids (Little Robot) and one for adults.
