What’s all this about a fines amnesty?

It’s true. Edinburgh Libraries are having a fines amnesty from 10am on Saturday 9th February through till 5pm on Friday 15th February.
Sounds good, what does this mean?
You will not be charged for any overdue items on your account which you return between those dates.
We will also write off any outstanding fines you may have on your account – just ask a member of library staff during the amnesty.

How to share your favourite books (and see everyone else’s)

It’s good to share! Here’s an easy way to tell everyone about your favourite books, and find out what everyone else in Edinburgh is reading.
‘My Lists’ is a brilliant feature on the library catalogue which allows you to create and share your very own book lists. We’ve been having lots of fun with it already but if you join in it’s going to be even better.

Library2go and ‘my account’ currently unavailable

We’re carrying out some essential I.T. work this morning which means that access to the ‘my account’ feature on the library catalogue is currently unavailable.
Access to the Library2go ebooks service is also affected. We hope to have everything back to normal this afternoon and apologise for any inconvenience.

Service disruption, Wednesday 28th March

We are carrying out essential maintenance work on library systems between 8am and 3pm on Wednesday 28th March.
This will affect the online catalogue and Library2go ebooks and audiobooks.
Self service kiosks and internet access in libraries will also be affected.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Whichbook?

Whichbook is an exciting online toy tool to help you find new books to read.  You can browse and create your own lists of books by genre or theme, but the revolutionary thing about the site is that it allows you to fine-tune various sliders in order to tailor the search to exactly what you feel like reading at the time.

Piershill Library system failure

Due to ongoing technical problems we are sorry that some users of Piershill Library have been charged fines when they shouldn’t have been. If you think you’ve been affected by this system failure please contact any of our libraries and we’ll sort this out for you. Please accept our sincere apologies for the service failure.

Online catalogue maintenance work

We are planning to carry out some extensive maintenance work on the catalogue on Thursday 2nd December from 7am to 12pm. This means the online catalogue will not be available at these times.
If you want to search for, reserve or renew an item of stock you can contact any library and we will do this for you.
