When is an exhibition not an exhibition? Come along to Central Library between 7th July and 31st August and find out.
This is Not an Exhibition, put together by a group of artists from Edinburgh College of Art, will use locations throughout the building in a variety of unique and interesting ways, including:

‘Medusa’ by Chris Kent – exhibition of artwork

Van Gogh's TwinAlexander Reid was often a stubborn and difficult individual, but his place is the history of Scottish art is assured. Reid has been described as a ‘prince among dealers’ and it was he who brought impressionism to Scotland.

The Ernest Levy Archive

Edinburgh City Libraries’ Liz McGettigan appeared on BBC Radio Scotland’s Sunday Morning programme yesterday to talk about the remarkable life of Holocaust survivor Ernest Levy and the archive which has been bequeathed to Central Library by his daughter Judith.

A touring exhibition of the project shortlisted for the RIAS Best Building in Scotland Award makes its way to Central Library from 15th June to 14th July.

Temporary closure of Central Lending Library

It’s all go at Central Library right now. We’re getting our self-service machines installed next week, so the lending library will be closed from Monday 20th June to Thursday 23rd June while we get the machines fitted.
All the other Central Library departments will be open as normal so you’ll still be able to return and renew books, collect reservations and so on.
