Public internet service

We are sorry that there are intermittent faults with our public internet service.
Our service providers are investigating the causes of these problems. Thank you for your patience while we work to get this fixed.

How we celebrated Adult Learners’ Week

Edinburgh Libraries were host to a wide variety of activities, celebrating Adult Learners Week (May 14 – 18), and despite the unusually cold temperatures a good crowd joined Carol for a walking exploration of Robert Louis Stevenson country around Oxgangs Library.

Why libraries get full marks when it comes to learning

“Thank you for opening the door to a new world – I have resisted becoming involved with computing but this was done in such an understandable way that I am greatly encouraged and now want to keep learning more”
“Excellent course and just right for a terrified beginner like me. Full marks to the libraries for doing something like this and to the staff and volunteers who made it so enjoyable”
“Great course! I am now regularly e-mailing my family in Australia, it’s wonderful”

Service disruption, Wednesday 28th March

We are carrying out essential maintenance work on library systems between 8am and 3pm on Wednesday 28th March.
This will affect the online catalogue and Library2go ebooks and audiobooks.
Self service kiosks and internet access in libraries will also be affected.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Communication with Stockbridge Library

Due to unforseen circumstances Stockbridge Library currently has no telephone or network communication. Apologies for any inconvenience, we will update you when the issue has been rectified.

Do you use library internet computers or wifi?

From next week we will be carrying out some work to improve the performance of the libraries’ Peoples’ Network computers. This means there may be no internet access in some libraries for up to two weeks.
There will be no internet access in any location from 14th – 16th  November. Internet access will be restored to libraries on a rolling basis thereafter. Wifi will also be affected.
We need to carry out this work in order to increase bandwidth and speed up the performance of these machines. This will improve response times for logging in and internet page loading.

Life in Great Britain

Just a wee reminder that Edinburgh City Libraries are holding a demonstration of the Life in Great Britain online resource tomorrow between 3.30-5pm at McDonald Road Library, 2 McDonald Road, Edinburgh, EH7 4LU. Come along and find out how you can access this free resource from work, home or the library.

Public Access PC’s are not currently available

Due to essential maintenance, public access PCs are not currently available in our libraries. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and would like to reassure library users that we are working to restore access as quickly as possible.
