Library catalogue maintenance
This morning from 8.30am the library catalogue will be undergoing some maintenance work. The work will take about 3 hours to complete and is being carried out to improve the catalogue searching functionality.
During that time the online catalogue will not be available.

Leith library are running a Valentine’s Day themed craft event for kids delivered by the talented paper artist, Joy Joy Brown. Come along and create something special for Valentine’s Day.
Edinburgh City Libraries – bucking the trend
Acclaimed Edinburgh-based children’s author Aileen Paterson joined Councillor Deidre Brock to open the brand new library facilities in the South Neighbourhood Office.
The best-selling writer, a keen supporter of public libraries, entertained kids from Gracemount Primary School and Spinney Lane Nursery with stories about her famous feline character Maisie MacKenzie, the kitten from Morningside.
Smoking Prevention Toolkit Launch at Kirkliston Library
YSTEP (Young People Smoking Tobacco Education and Prevention) launch a new smoking prevention toolkit at Kirkliston Library on Wed 9th Feb.
The resource features visual aids, manuals, DVDs and games which will support educators and health professionals engage young people in discussion about tobacco, smoking and related issues. The kit will be free to borrow from the library.
The pandas are coming… and so is our brand new library at Drumbrae!
The building contractors arrived on site at Rannoch Terrace on 10th January and top soil and planting removal is already underway.
Our next key event will be a ground breaking ceremony on Tuesday 18th January which will be led by Councillor Jenny Dawe, Council Leader, followed by a reception in the Rannoch Centre.
This marks a significant milestone in the creation of purpose built facility at the heart of the local community which will enable people to access the services and amenities they need.
Christmas opening times
A quick reminder that libraries will close at 5pm on Friday 24th December and reopen on Wednesday 29th December.
Same idea at New Year – we’ll close at 5pm on Friday 31st December and reopen on Wednesday 5th January.
Remember you can still use lots of our online services when we’re closed.

Weekend opening
We expect all libraries to be open as normal this weekend (11 and 12 December).

Kirkliston will not open today due to weather conditions.
The other public libraries in Edinburgh will close at 4pm today
