PressReader is a collection of over 4000 UK and worldwide newspapers and magazines that you can access on your own mobile device in PressReader HotSpots (Edinburgh Library branches, Edinburgh Council schools and Waverley Court). Once you have connected to a HotSpot though you then have 3 days of use of the app from anywhere. After the 3 days you need to visit a HotSpot again to reactivate your off-site use of the app.
Read over 100 UK & Irish newspapers including today's editions of the Edinburgh Evening News, Scotsman, Scottish Daily Mail, The Press and Journal, Daily Mail, The Guardian and The Herald as well as over 100 UK magazines. Publications from over 100 countries in 60 languages are available including from Poland, India, USA, France and China. Articles can be translated into 16 languages and you can also listen to today's news by using PressReader's Radio function which will read articles out to you.
PressReader has a small range of material for children too as it includes comics such as the Beano, Horrible Histories and Doctor Who Adventures. It also includes a newspaper aimed specifically at children - First News.
Simply install the app on your Apple, Android, Windows or Kindle Fire device (tablet, iphone, Android phone, Windows phone or app-enabled laptop) and follow the device instructions. Please note that some of PressReaders advanced functions such as translation and bookmarking are not available when you use a mobile phone. Functionality varies from device to device and usage may differ on your device from the guidance given in the above instructions.
Outwith PressReader HotSpots you can access the same range of publications through the Library PressDisplay website.
