Setting up the app
Go to the App Store or Google Play store and install the BorrowBox app (see separate instructions for Kindle Fire installation). Select your library – click in the Library field and type Edinburgh, choose Edinburgh Libraries. Type in your library barcode number (uppercase letters) and PIN, then click on Sign In

Using the app
1. To browse through categories or genres click on the eAudiobooks button (bottom of the screen). Or click on the Search button to search for specific titles (magnifying glass)

2. Click Borrow to check the book out and Confirm Loan (It is possible to change your settings so that you can borrow books instantly without the need to confirm the loan – click on the Settings button at bottom of page and turn on Instant Borrow/Reserve)

3. Choose to Listen Now or Keep Browsing. If you chose to listen - press the green Download button and then the play button (arrow). If you chose to keep browsing you can access your audiobooks by clicking on My Loans at the bottom of the screen

To reserve a title
Click on the Reserve button below the title's cover then click Confirm Reserve (unless you deactivated confirmation in settings). You will get an email when the title is available for download

To renew a title
The first time you borrow a book a pop-up message will ask if you want to receive an email when your loans are expiring - say Yes. When you receive a “titles expiring” email go to My Loans and click Renew beside the title. You will be able to renew the book once, even if someone else has reserved it

To return a title
