Audiobooks for schools

ABOUT
Access hundreds of downloadable audiobooks for children and teens through Libby by OverDrive. They are available 24/7 from school or home and can be used on computers, tablets, smart phones and MP3 players. Many audiobooks are unlimited access so a whole class could borrow the same title at a time.

WHY
Audiobooks are a fantastic resource for using with reticent readers or those with dyslexia and other reading difficulties.

HOW
Audiobooks can be accessed through the Libby app on tablets or phones or on computers through the Libby website.

GET STARTED
• Access is via library membership – contact informationdigital@edinburgh.gov.uk to join the library. If you are a library member, but get an error message when you logon to Libby, you need to have your membership upgraded for ebook/audiobook use. Email your Edinburgh home or work address and your library card number to  informationdigital@edinburgh.gov.uk and we'll upgrade you within one working day.

• Contact informationdigital@edinburgh.gov.uk to ask how to get your class or year group registered for the library so your pupils can start using audiobooks.

• Read the appropriate help sheet (attached) to guide you through setting up Libby and using it in school or at home. Information sheets on using the service from home or various other mobile devices can be found on the Libby Information pages.
