Edinburgh Collected for schools

Edinburgh Collected is a fantastic resource for schools to help document the history of their area.

Classes can share their learning about how the area has changed over time and build scrapbooks of personalised collections of material they’ve shared (or discovered) on the site along with their reflections on what they’ve learned.

All uploads are moderated and only registered users can leave comments. Classes can apply for group logins to make sure children are kept safe using the site.

Edinburgh Collected presents excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary activity in the class bringing together key outcomes for all levels in English and Literacy, Social Subjects, Technologies as well as ICT and Literacy across the curriculum.   It enables young learners to actually Make History, taking the initiative and documenting untold and little-known stories about every corner of the city from the past and as it happens.
