Highly recommended, a literary thriller that is truly both literary and thrilling. An escape line for POW through the Vatican City in 1943 loosely based on true events. I particularly liked the multi-voiced narrative, with each voice distinctive and engaging and often humorous too. Those different voices tell an exciting story of the events leading up to a particular escape planned for Christmas Eve 1943. There are some heart stopping moments along the way and it is never clear right up to the last moment how things will turn out.
