The Edinburgh Libraries Catalogue (access from the search box at the top of Your Library website) can help you trace dyslexia-friendly resources such as audiobooks, DVDs and specific dyslexia titles. The catalogue can be searched using the Search Library Catalogue box at the top of this page.

 

SEARCHING THE CATALOGUE FOR AUDIOBOOKS
Edinburgh Libraries has a wide range of audiobooks on CD and tape to borrow from our branch libraries or eaudiobooks that you can download at home. Details of all of these can be found on our catalogue.

Search for specific audiobook titles
1. Search for the title you want to find
2. On the right-hand side of the screen look for Refine your search: Format and click on eAudio (downloadable audiobooks) or 
Talking book – Cassette (CD and cassette audiobooks) or Talking book – MP3 (MP3 audiobook players)
3. This will now display only those audiobook formats of the title

Search for all audiobook titles
1. Go to the Search box and click on Advanced Search
2. Scroll down to Format and select eAudio or Talking books - Cassette or Talking books – MP3 and click on Search (to search for all audio formats click down on the Control keyboard button whilst you select them)

 

SEARCHING THE CATALOGUE FOR DVDS
Edinburgh Libraries has thousands of DVDs for you to borrow including many films of books.

Search for specific DVD titles
1. Search for the title you want to find
2. On the right-hand side of the screen look for Format and click on DVD
3. This will now display only DVD versions of the title

Search for all DVD titles
1. Go to the Search box and click on Advanced Search
2. Scroll down to Format and select DVD and click on Search 

 

SEARCHING FOR DYSLEXIA-RELATED TITLES
The library has many books on the subject of dyslexia and also books especially written to support dyslexic readers. 

1. Search for the words dyslexia or dyslexic to find books on this subject 
2. To find fiction/non-fiction written in a dyslexia-friendly manner try searching for publishers such as Barrington Stoke

 

ADDING A BOOK REVIEW TO THE CATALOGUE
You can add your own book review to the catalogue. This is a useful way of highlighting titles that you think might be useful to others.

1. Login to your library account using the grey Login box
2. Then use the Search box to look for the book you want to review and click on the title to go to the book details page
3. Click on Add your review button

4. Add your review and click Save
